Day Haze

Around the desk, a sunbeam

Darting over paper

Chasing fingers on a keyboard

Whizzing up a screen

Lightening the zombie load

Of emails, endless

Bureaucracy at work

Spotlit so brightly

I could not see.

Beckoning me out.

But it was not to be.

Hazed out by meeting

After meeting

After meeting

To be released finally

Into dusk and dark

And her smile,

A wide welcoming grin

High high up in the bright

Daygone sky.
