Orange Gazania and Pandorea

I attached myself to orange

and brought you orange flowering

cacti which sang something

to you too, my chorister

of the unusual plants my

daughter of the quirky qwerty.

The orange gazanias drew

me to their sharpness of leaf

and colour so intense that I

almost missed my pandorea

flowering at eye level, at last,

a pale pink disappearing

into the late spring brightness

like strawberry ice-cream

melting in the heat.

The morning sun rose today

in orange gazanias not sky.

We were burnt by its beauty.
