Sun swirls as small rainbow disc-shadows
on the wall, blinking in the lightness of a room
made sunnier than day.
Here muted voices muffle and haze the length
of time darting among the books and dust,
our laziness snoozing in pages.
Quiet plants itself in the garden beds between
roses and salvias preparing to live, just ready for
the next turning in, in the plainness of night.
