in which day begins before midnight

when a mist spreads across the ground

so fine that creatures see their tails

cut a thin line through night;

when households hold their counsel

with darkness and turn blind

against the light;

when music finds time before

midnight to rush in like

a tide of life,

then day begins in a melody

of wind picking up sound

soundlessly
