Wind Break

A carelessness slips across the patch

blowing in from all directions, it seems,

new leaves buckled and bowed while aphids

cling on, oblivious. Sun expands the wind

into warm gusts of wildness, wilderness

in the suburbs, where only manicured box

remains square and squat.  I too succumb,

buffeted by unrelenting waves of springtime,

a transient repose.
